Mortlach 13 Year Old 2008 (casks 314536 & 314537 & 314560) - Un-Chillfiltered Collection (Signatory)
Distilled at Mortlach in 2008, this single malt was filled into a trio of hogshead casks, where it stayed for the following 13 years. In 2022, the casks were opened by Signatory and independently bottled up for its Un-Chillfiltered Collection, without added colour, or chill filtration.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
A good helping of crushed almonds, oily barley, and honeyed sourdough, with fresh apple, and a touch of fennel salami.
Palate
Buttery barley and set honey bring a sweet touch, with a base of hearty, earthen spice and walnut oil at the core.
Finish
More nutty, earthen cigar box, candied ginger, a hint of olive brine, softly sweet sultanas, and woody, oaken spice.
