Old Perth Sherry Cask Bottling Note

Morrision & MacKay's Old Perth range expanded in late 2015 with the introduction of a Peaty expression and one produced with whiskies aged in Sherry casks (the bottle you see before your eyes right now). A pleasantly Sherried blended malt from the Old Perth selection, which is a tribute to the splendid city of Perth in Scotland.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Brandy-soaked Christmas cake, milk chocolate and a touch of toasted barley.

Palate: Buttery. Brown sugar and chewy raisin, chocolate notes grow enjoyably bitter.

Finish: Medium length, with a spicy kick of ground clove. Hint of fresh berries give a sweet balance.

Old Perth Sherry Cask Blended Malt Reviews

Don't repeat my mistake

Thin in texture and absolutely emaciated in taste. The tasting notes provided above are correct, if you imagine them delivered through the medium of a car air-freshener. the continuity is good though as there is strange metallic taste throughout. I have given up with half a bottle left; and this is from somebody who bought a bottle of Cu Dubh and managed to drink it (slowly).

I'm a fan of bargain-priced whisky but at just shy of £30, this is not. Buy yourself a Whyte & Mackay 13yo and save yourself a few quid and a lot of discomfort.

0.5 stars given in recognition of it officially qualifying as a whisky.

Get some in !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pure Magic. An old friend used to say " This whisky is not for sharing you can have a glass of the
fire water." Well this is definitely not for sharing. However people who say they don't like whisky will like this. Absolute value for money get it before it all goes.

Yummy

I liked it.

2016 Advent Calendar Notes

Though I tend toward bold peat, this dram is a lovely sweet alternative, perfect for dessert sipping. Fruity and sweet in the nose with a rich apricot jammy quality on the palate and a modest sweetness on the finish. A very accessible dram for those that claim they don't like whisky.

A very good value for your money

It is nothing extraordinary but for the price it is a surprisingly good sherry dram. Smooth when it needs to without being flat. The finish is very long and satisfying. It would advise it for the dessert. You could pay much more somewhere else for a similar experience.

Buttery goodness

Sweet hints of butter and brown sugar delicately danced across my tounge. This scotch transported me to a warm cabin on Christmas eve, surrounded by the smell of cakes and chestnuts roasting on a fire.
