A 10 year old Japanese whisky from Monde Shuzo, released in partnership with Whiskies du Monde. Fujikai takes its name from the fact that Monde Shuzo, a winery that also produces the Isawa whiskies, is located at the base of Mount Fuji in what was the Kai Province (Kai-no-kuni). Limited to 8,808 bottles and matured in bourbon casks, it's unclear exactly when this whisky was distilled.
Nose: Vegetal and musky, thyme, iodine, acetone, a hint of vanilla and shochu.
Palate: Peat, geranium leaf, dried herbs, green apple and walnut.
Finish: Drying with some dark spices.
Overall: Unique and a little sharp in places, but bound to sell out fairly quickly.

In an age of wonderful Japanese whiskies - this is NOT one. The harsh vegetals render this undrinkable to my taste. I believe this is either through insufficient or poorly presented exposure to the copper of the still or a mistimed cut. Avoid but don't let it put you off Japanese whisky. Glad some reviewers liked it variety is the spice of life.

I've been a fan of Japanese whisky for many years & this is the first i couldn't finish, despite forking out £7 for 25ml! i reckon "Don't" got the tasting notes spot on.

Don't agree with some of the reviews. Not the best Japanese whisky, more smokey than most. But def. worth a taste, i liked it!

Excellent with sushi!

No matter the whisky, i have always managed to finish the glass.....until now. Fujikai 10 year old is simply so revolting that after 2 sips, i poured it down the sink. Taste is subjective but unless you particularly like licking diesel out of a sweaty man's navel, avoid this cynical attempt to cash in on the popularity of Japanese whisky.

If you like the taste of burned plastic with a hint of rubber then this is for you.

This by far the worst whisky I have ever tasted. The closest I could think of is hydraulic oil....Spend your money on something els
