Miyagikyo Sherry Wood Finish (bottled 2018)

Miyagikyo Sherry 2018 Bottling Note

A no age statement single malt distilled at Miyagikyo, whose climate isn't too dissimilar to that of the Cairngorn mountains in Scotland. This one was finished for one year in sherry casks before it was bottled at 46% ABV by Nikka in 2018. Sherried Japanese whisky has quite a reputation for being... Well, for being bloomin' brilliant, so don't expect this to hang around long.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Flowery stone fruits, apricots, peaches, and plums, with clementine, walnut, leather and freshly baked gingerbread.

Palate: The sherry influence peeks through, red fruits, caramel, coffee and a touch of dark chocolate praline.

Finish: Lingering dried fruit sweetness, a pinch of tobacco and warming pepper spice.
