    Midleton Very Rare 2020

Midleton's Very Rare expressions are always fantastic examples of Irish whiskey, and the 2020 edition continues that theme, being packed to the brim with rich vanilla, fragrant oak, and ripe fruit notes. The 2020 is also the last Midleton Very Rare release to be made under the watchful eye of master distiller Brian Nation, who selected the casks during his final days at Midleton before leaving to join the O’Shaughnessy Distilling Company.

This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Bold pot still spiciness, with a pinch of red chilli flake fruitiness developing into sultana, apricot, and green apple. Soon enough, fudge and chocolatey coffee notes appear.

    Palate

Orange oil, mature oak, more crumbly fudge, toasty cinnamon and five-spice, a whiff of floral malt.

    Finish

The big, vibrant spices linger on the finish, plus hints of juicy nectarine and candied peels.
