Once again, those folks from Midleton have produced a spectacular blended whiskey in the Very Rare series. The 2018 bottling is the 35th edition of Midleton Very Rare, produced with specially selected malt and grain whiskeys matured in lightly charred ex-bourbon barrels, chosen by master distiller Brian Nation. Nose
Poached pear, coffee bean, lemon, mint leaf and yellow plum.
Palate
Peppery barley warmth begins to develop on the palate, paired with caramel, banana fritters, charred oak and citrus oils.
Finish
Honeyed cereals, cedar, subtly leafy at points, green apple.
