Once again, those folks from Midleton have produced a spectacular blended whiskey in the Very Rare series. The 2018 bottling is the 35th edition of Midleton Very Rare, produced with specially selected malt and grain whiskeys matured in lightly charred ex-bourbon barrels, chosen by master distiller Brian Nation. Properly spectacular Irish whiskey, this.

Poached pear, coffee bean, lemon, mint leaf and yellow plum.
Peppery barley warmth begins to develop on the palate, paired with caramel, banana fritters, charred oak and citrus oils.
Honeyed cereals, cedar, subtly leafy at points, green apple.

Nose: Babysham. Green apple and fresh wood. Palate: Middling palate feel, spice comes thick and thin of the wood, and there is acres of apple. Green apple. There is a hint of peat, not Islay peat, but peat all the same. Marvellous. After: Smooth wood finish on which floors sherry.
The same as every other year - Superb
