Midleton Rare 2015 Bottling Note

This is the 2015 release of Midleton's excellent Very Rare series, which has enjoyed its maturation exclusively in American oak barrels. As with the 2014 edition, this bottling bares the signature of Brian Nation, who took over the Master Distiller role from the legendary Barry Crockett. The Very Rare series has been enjoyed by Irish whiskey lovers worldwide since 1984!

Midleton Very Rare 2015 Reviews

Smooth full flavor pallet Irish Whiskey

I'm a fan of Jameson Whiskeys be it Black Barrel, 12 Year, Gold Reserve, 18 Year limited, Green Spot, or Yellow Spot. They all have their time and place, this Midleton Very Rare is quite good. It has a great start and awesome finish with NO burn. I will absolutely add another bottle to my collection (one to sip one to save). If you are a fan of Irish whiskey Midleton's Very Rare is a must for your collection.

We drink scotch but this rocks!

So we drink a lot of very good scotch but figured this might be a nice interlude. Oh how fantastic a decision this turned out to be. I can't say enough good about this stuff. What a wonderful bit of drink this is. So much depth and more than a few layers as it comes on and progresses through the palette. There is for sure a sweet note to it but it is well balanced against the character of the wood and serves to provide a very nice background throughout. I stumble because I lack the trained pallet and nose so I will stop and simply say, buy a bottle or three. I sure am going to buy at least one more.

Superb. I've had the single cask and think this is better...

Bland

This is sweet and viscous, like most Irish whiskies, and has little burn. However that's about all there is to it. I'll have to pick up a Jameson to compare against, but I've got a Yamazaki 12 right here that has TONS more character and a far longer finish with slightly more burn. Regardless I'll not be buying another of these.

Outstanding

Not cheap, but my god when you drink you really feel like you are drinking something special. If you in any way like Irish whiskey, then you cannot but appreciate this one.

Awesome!

Was given this as a gift at Christmas and was completely blown away.
Broke it open on New Years Eve, wow, what a way to start the New Year.
Spicy refreshing whisky, with a very smooth vanilla finish.
The complexity of this whisky is amazing, the balance of the spice and sweetness is mind blowing.
10 out of 10.

The dog's

Bullocks (thank you auto correct). Wins every blind tasting I do. Simply the best

Subtle, delicate

Given as a gift so didn't have to stomach the high price for this "sought after" dram. Quite subtle and delicate overall. Dominant pineapple and orange peel on both nose and palate, with finish fading quickly, with perhaps a hint of pepper and spice lingering. A lovely sip no question, although it's hard to see how the price is justified.
