You'll find a number of these releases, each bottled at different natural cask strengths having been initially filled at 103 proof. They're filled at a lower strength than the industry standard as Michter's believes that this leads to a smoother, richer whiskey, even though there are greater costs for casks and storage. Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Sweetly stewed fruits and currants, cola bottle sweeties, charred oak, a touch of eucalyptus.
Palate
Plenty of rye spice, backed by honeycomb, browned butter, toffee, and a touch of smoked oak and dried mint.
Finish
Pepper and cinnamon linger bringing fiery warmth, with dense, robust oak char.
