Mellow Corn is a distinctive American whiskey produced by Heaven Hill Distillery. silky sweet butter scotch with a aftertaste reminder its moonshine

There,s no corn whiskey quite like this its got silky sweet butter vanilla taste and smell with woody notes but the wood is bitter and there's a acetone after taste that spoils it a bit, but still it works great with soda, coke, ginger beer and Canada dry definitely the most flavoursome corn whiskey I have tasted . also I mixed some with Manhattan rye (50/50) and made the perfect bourbon ! great stuff but then Manhattan rye is way overpriced I only mixed them because the rye was boring on its own I'll try a different rye next time

Nicely different..

Strong and alcoholic, as you would expect at 100% proof, but nicely different. The only other corn whiskey I've tried is Balcones Baby Blue, which was the whisky equivalent of a Saturday night drive in at the movies...this is less subtle, stronger, but still full of flavour. Nicely different.

One to try..

Where to start? Lets start with the packaging. I love the bottle, save for the awful plastic screw cap, what were they thinking? And so it goes on that one minute I love it, the next I find it a confusing proposition to say the least as it changes from dram to dram. The nose can be cheap perfume, petrol or sweet buttered popcorn with a hint of smoke. The palate can be overwhelmingly peppery or a subtle balance of sweetness, with great viscosity and a spicy finish. As shocked as I am finding myself saying it, one I might consider trying "on the rocks", which I shall do this evening.

One to try

Worth trying as an example of straight corn whisky. Its very uncomplicated, slightly sweet and very spicy. It's not a complex dram to linger over but for what it is deserves a visitation. Love the bottle, save for the bloody awful plastic screw cap!
