Secret Islay 10 Year Old 2012 (Master of Malt)

While out on the prowl for some impressive Scotch, our expert cask buyers found themselves engaging in a top-secret transaction. Gathered 'round the table in a darkened Islay inn, discussing the sort of whisky they hoped to bring back from the trip, a wisened-looking fellow appeared as if from nowhere with a tray of drinks for everyone. What passed their lips was dream like – they were each drinking the precise dram that they'd been imagining just moments before. The man pulled out a contract and a quill, and soon the deal was done, a cask was bought. We're not sure whether they traded their souls, or just some traditional Pounds, it's all top secret y'see. All they'll tell us is that it was distilled on Islay in 2012 and spent a decade maturing in a hogshead cask... and that it's delicious.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

Fresh, juicy notes of pear and yellow plums, buttered sourdough, and creamy grist. A touch of salty brine nestles beneath, with sweet, charred s'mores in tow.

Palate

Vanilla custard opens the way for waves of salty sea spray, oily malt, and singed herbs. Lively peat smoke sails throughout, while peaches and cream cushion a crackle of pepper.

Finish

A splendid harmony of creamy vanilla, yeasty bread, salted butter, backed by toasted oak, fragrant smoke, and soft spice.
