Tonic Wine Cask Finish Blended Malt 21 Year Old - Master of Malt x The Rhythm and Booze Project
Wow! These genuinely flew out the door! Are we on to something...?
So... About these Tonic Wine Cask Finish whiskies released 1 April... We actually went and made them! Find out more over on the blog.
There's interesting cask finishes for whisky, and then there's what we've done here with help from our friends The Rhythm and Booze Project. After 18 months of experimentation, we've finally ready to show off a whisky that has been finished in a cask that previously held tonic wine! And not just any whisky, oh no. We've gone big and finished a 21 year old blended malt whisky in the aforementioned tonic wine cask! The intense, berry-forward, boldly herbaceous tonic wine offers up a fascinating juxtaposition to the richly-malty whisky's character. It's not something we've seen before, and it's truly a unique experience.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Dried citrus peels, cough syrup, peanut brittle, rye toast (just slightly burnt), fruity coffee, plum pudding.
Palate
Still quite syrupy, now with notes of shortbread, cracked black pepper, hazelnut spread, thyme, dried flower petals, prune, and Jammie Dodgers.
Finish
Lasting summer berry notes, with a dusting of cinnamon and nutmeg over the top.
