Wine Cask
It's a wine cask finished edition of Mars Maltage Cosmo! The blended malt features whisky from the Japanese Shinshu distillery alongside whiskies from undisclosed Scottish distilleries, too, and was finished in wine casks for a year before bottling. Oodles of red fruit influence to enjoy here!
Date sweetness balanced by tart red fruit and walnut bitterness, along with bright fresh tropical fruit.
Wine-y fruit influence, with lots of black fruit, plum, and a sprinkle of brown sugar.
Tannic black tea on a dry finish.

Quite a rich, sweet and fruity number that wasn't actually very similar to the regular Maltage Cosmo. Port or fortified wine notes are really prominent with a dry finish. This was pleasant and an interesting expression after I added a few drops of water to take the edge off. I've enjoyed this over the last two days. It's not the most balanced whisky though, and feel that this is quite expensive for what is delivered though.
