Svensk Ek, or 'Swedish Oak', is matured in barrels made from oak trees planted on the island of Visingsö centuries ago, oak originally intended for shipbuilding.
Absolutely gorgeous. I loved it so much that I have just bought myself a whole cask (of similar) from the distillery! (58 bottles/'elegant' recipe/swedish oak cask#2015/48.1%) This is the future of integrity whisky, non-chill filtered, no colouring, swedish oak, deeply sweet and spicy. Nose, palate and finish are all completely different animals which make this a really interesting dram.
Dangerously drinkable, slightly smoky but with a sweet finish.
Gorgeous flavours; raspberry, white chocolate, spices and mint
More complex than most ‘smokey malts.
Very nice round taste. This different character goes down easy
