Mackmyra Moment – Virvelvind
The final release in Mackmyra's Moment series, Virvelvind brings it full circle with its cask recipe inspired by the first in the range, the Medvind. There's peated and unpeated whisky drawn from bourbon casks, whisky drawn from Swedish oak casks, and whisky drawn from second-fill Oloroso sherry casks in this expression, and it's a brilliantly bold dram. Talk about going out with a bang!
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Brown sugar with a touch of toastiness, a flash of citrus peel, soft smoke, pear drops.
Palate
Orange notes persist, with toffee and vanilla in tow. A hint of smoky spice grows in the background.
Finish
Drying oak touches and a smidge of rum-soaked raisin.
