Mackmyra Limousin Bottling Note

From Sweden's Mackmyra Distillery comes a single malt whisky which has been matured partially in French Limousin oak casks that previously held Cognac from Maison Ferrand. Alongside this, the team also included whisky aged in Oloroso casks, American oak casks, bourbon casks, Swedish oak casks, and raspberry wine casks. Inspired by the golden hour in the French countryside, this is a mellow yet flavoursome single malt, perfect for enjoying on a warm evening.

Mackmyra Limousin Reviews

Mackmyra? MackYUM!

The nose is very simple, it's vanilla scents and thick cloudy honey, and red berries...and...that's it. It's not doing anything complicated there.
It's being all Swedish, really. Very simple and straightforward on the surface but with an absolute feckton of depth and probably a lot of gritty murder-noir tv shows. The palate is just.....CHEF'S KISS. It's a strong expression of thick milk chocolate and nuts, like Cadbury's Whole Nut before they changed the recipe and made it rubbish...but there's layers of ginger and crushed black pepper that come out towards the end and the finish is just this lovely toffee and honey thickness.
