Description

Mackmyra's core expression is a light Swedish whisky matured primarily in first fill bourbon barrels but also includes whisky aged in Sherry and Swedish oak casks too as well as some smokier malt, which all adds to the complexity.

Nose

Fresh, delicate fruit aromas with vanilla pods. Pine nuts, pine needles, raspberry bushes and mixed peels. Ryvita and Sesame Snaps.

Palate

Vanilla cream, custard even and more fruit. Red berries, boiled sweets and rich, warming bourbon.

Finish

Spicy oak and apple pie whilst remaining light and nimble.

Overall

Tremendous easy-drinking single malt whisky from Sweden.

1 Dimensional Whisky

Very delicate whisky but is simply not complex enough to get excited about. I'd recommend Penderyn over this as it has a similar delicate sweet palate but fat more complex. Same price too.

Lightweight and underwhelming

That's all really - very delicate but not enough complexity to pull that off. Ultimately boring and overpriced for what it is...

Master of Malt Customer Jan 5, 2015

Rather disappointing

Save your money for a Scottish one. Just one plain whisky without much complexity.

Master of Malt Customer Dec 5, 2014

Uninspiring, much better out there

This was a MASSIVE disappointment... I was utterly underwhelmed by this whisky. There's nothing really to say, other than there are some MUCH better whiskies around, especially those from India and Japan, which completely blow this out of the water. Save your money.

Pleasant suprise

You will enjoy this more than you expect.
