Glen Deveron 16 YO Bottling Note

16 year old single malt Scotch whisky from the Glen Deveron range, which is the name that Macduff use for their official bottlings. This was originally release for the Travel Retail market, alongside a 20 Year Old and a 30 Year Old.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Orchard fruits arrive first on the nose, followed by robust notes of golden barley.

Palate: More chewy cereal notes and green apple, soon joined by an elegant, subtle hint of peat smoke.

Finish: Lasting oak-y, peaty warm elements.

Glen Deveron 16 Year Old - Royal Burgh Collection Reviews

Great taste especially for a novice single malt drinker

I’ve steered clear of Scorch since getting horribly drunk and I’ll in my twenties. 40+ years later I had a weekend in Edinburgh and decided I should try single malts. Enjoyed my tastings so bought this st the airport returning home after tasting - for me it’s perfect. A light flavour, nice aroma, not a rough after taste, very pleasant to sip. A good start (I fear!) to enjoying single malts!

I like it. Has a nice flavor

Excellent

Below average

I really wanted to enjoy this after an airport salesman in a flashy suit waxed lyrical about it but I found it to be a poor drop once I was home. and not very airport exclusive if it's now available everywhere!

2nd April 2019

Excellent

Nice whisky

1st January 2019

Not sad its discontinued

I would have expected more from a 16yo. It lacks a punch!

Mycket god Whisky

One star off for a bad cork

Had to decant due to a bad cork. But a brilliant budget 16 year old.

Sweetness sets it apart from many other Single Malts

Got mine at Gatwick.

Almost no nose. Good burst on the pallet, and quite sweet, but doesn't last long. Not much smoke. Nevertheless, I did enjoy it and at £44, found it to be good value.

Highly forgettable

Luckily I was given this bottle and initially guessed it must be around $40 or so and that it was not good enough for me to buy a replacement once this one's gone.
Definitely enjoying it, which can be fairly effortless at times and just short of impossible the next time around.
I gave it two stars, as it's by no means undrinkable, but three stars would mean I might buy a bottle, and I definitely won't be doing that.

Picked up at Heathrow

My wife picked up a bottle at Heathrow, and stuffed it in her carry on. When she got home I poured a shot right away,. Excellent!!

Smooth and with a great nose, i found it so easy to drink. Round flavour, with a hint of sweetness. No doubt i am getting another bottle.

28th May 2018

Great purchase

I bought this as a gift for my brother in law at the duty free in Heathrow in 2016.
He just opened it when I was there and WOW. This is a wonderful smooth whiskey with an amazing finish.

19th April 2018

Practically tasteless

I know it sounds crazy, and yes, I've had many and many a malt in my time, but there's just very little flavor in this bottle. Starts a bit watery... then nothing happens. Smooth as hell, no doubt. I know people are saying it's harsh, but I think the problem is that with no other tastes, you inevitably alcohol itself, which just isn't a nice flavor.

3rd February 2018

Cheap but not worth it

Not the worst whisky ive tried but probably the worst 16 year one, the casks used for this must have been refilled too many times, same with the 20 y old. Very little oak influence..

30th January 2018

Highly recommended

A good price point for a very good valued single malt well aged and I was very happy with my first glass. This was a recommended by the sales person at duty free, so I was initially a little dubious. It is smooth and a new favourite. Can’t wait for my next flight to buy a few more as this bottle won’t last for long.

7th January 2018

Very smooth

Derek,
Sampled Glen Deveron 16 year at Glasgow Airport, purchesed one bottle wish I had bought two.

3rd September 2017

Great deal for a great whisky

Tried this at the world of whisky store in Heathrow and picked up 2 for 70. Great bargain in a world where more and more whisky makers are producing younger malts with no age statements at higher prices! I took off half a star as this would have been a stellar dram at 43%ABV.

Mr D

Very smooth taste and a nice colour too.

25th October 2016

I deciding between Glenlivet Nadurra and this.

While I might like the Nadurra better this was on discount at tax-free shop so the price was half of aNadurra in same shop., so I bought this. it did not disappoint especially at the pricepoint. Very easy, smooth and fruity, you should give this it 15min of air before consuming, no water needed.

Ray Dram

Picked up a litre of this at Gatwick airport on a 2 for £70 deal so wasn't expecting it to be good with competition back home against the 27 other whiskies I have on the go. So poured a large slug and boy am I smiling. First thing to notice is the gloopy smoothness on the tongue followed quickly by the sweet hit. I am not a fan of too peaty whiskies (that should sipped with blue cheese), and the peat does linger a little in the background but the balance against the caramel sweetness is near perfect. It is also a beautiful colour; a rich amber that normally heralds a strong peaty one, but it's not. The 'blended' indication on the back label gives a big clue why this tastes so good. So it has rocketed up as one of the favourites against my collection of 'standards' but I still have softer spot for my Glen Ord that I really do hide away from guests!

21st October 2016

Mr M

Smooth taste!

7th October 2016

Hey you Dubious!

If a malt whisky is blended with whisky from the same distillery it's still single malt whisky.

7th October 2016

Come on Man!

I am disappointed by the reviews I read here. Obviously these were written be by inexperienced connoisseurs. This is definitely on par with Spayburn 10. No splash of water necessary.

25th September 2016

Dubious

Does the box and front lable really say single malt while the back of the bottle says blended? Mine from Dhubi duty free is drinkable but does not taste like a malt. Is it a fake?

25th July 2016

Simon says

Very delicious and smooth. Much smoother than my regular scotch, Glenl...something. Cannot quite remember it's name right now, hum.

17th June 2016

Disappointing

Harsh, burning.

8th June 2016

Disappointing for a 16yo

Not as smooth or rounded as you would expect for this age of Whisky. Also agree with the previous review that a splash of water doesn't really help. 15yo Glenlivet better in my opinion.

22nd May 2016

Wally loves this drop 😀

Lovely smooth whisky with lots of fruity aroma and taste. Apples, pears and hints of cherries. Bit smokies have Benin present in the middle with estrone oak an vanilla aftertaste. Very enjoyable drop 😋

21st May 2016

Very sharp

Disappointment for an 16 years old. Very harsh and sharp taste.

20th May 2016

Lord Grange

Lovely smooth finish

19th May 2016

Harsh

I was expecting more from this 16 YO. It was just harsh on my tongue... even after adding a splash of water.
