This is the second limited edition Fèis Ìle bottling from Mac-Talla, released for the 2023 festival. The Islay single malt Scotch whisky is drawn from 26 Pedro Ximénez sherry-seasoned casks, which give the meaty peat character some jammy red berry and sweet spice notes. Absolutely delicious.
Wafts of smoke and toasted seaweed, with blackberries, and muscovado sugar.
The PX influence gives a barbecue smoke quality to the coastal Islay smoke, with balanced sweetness, raisins, cinnamon spice, and chocolate covered honeycomb.
Tawny marmalade, a touch of liquorice, and lingering smoke.

Simply impressive. Tried it first as is - rich, fruity and smoky. You definitely get the sherry and smoke and long finish with that high ABV punch. Couple drops of water open up some new flavours. Then I added a shot (about 5ml) of water into the glass to cool it down and I sipped on the rest with great pleasure. Quality stuff, get a bottle.
Very similar to a laphroight PX
