Mac-Talla Strata Bottling Note

15 year old single malt from the Mac-Talla range, titled Strata, as a reference to the various rock formations across Islay's shores. The whisky is also from Islay, though the distillery remains a mystery. Drawn from a combination of bourbon and sherry casks, it's a flavoursome dram with fruity, spice, and whiffs of mineral-rich smoke.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Rock pools and sea shells, juxtaposed by redcurrant and toffee pennies.

Palate Rounded barley with waves of soft smoke, dotted by chocolate, vanilla, cassia, and salted butter.

Finish Very subtly grassy, still with vanilla and coastal peat smoke at the fore.

Reviews for Mac-Talla Strata
Gateway whisky <3
If you're looking for a gateway into Islay whiskies, this is the one! It's super easy to drink and is well balanced with sweetness and only a hint of peat. I love Mac-Talla and would always recommend to anyone as theres something for everyone!

Great balance of sherried-sweetness & smoke
I gave a bottle to my father-in-law who thankfully shared a few drams with me - delicious, elegant and balanced single malt.

Soft sherried-sweetness and elegant smoke with a rewarding long finish. I definitely scored some BONUS points with him.

The best of both worlds
Wow, what can I say this really is the best of both worlds!!
Mellow Islay peat and wood smoke combined with a spicy sweetness from the sherry which hits everything that I look for in one.
Halfway through my first bottle and already ordered my next bottle which I will need to keep away from the family at Christmas.
