Mac-Talla Friends of Fèis 2026 Cognac Release
Mac-Talla Friends of Fèis 2026 Cognac Release is a limited bottling that takes Islay peat and gives it a proper French finishing school education. This single malt began in first-fill bourbon casks before a two-year stint in six 225L Cognac casks, adding a layer of ripe orchard fruit and soft, honeyed depth to the smoke. It was then married for a month to pull everything together, with the whole project overseen at Aberargie Distillery. Just 360 bottles exist, each presented at 52.4% ABV.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Warm pastries, poached pear and grilled pineapple, with coconut cream and a gentle waft of coastal smoke.
Palate
Honeyed grape and apricot lead, followed by vanilla fudge, toasted oak, and a soft, ashy peat that builds rather than barges in.
Finish
Lingering smoke with winter spice, drying oak, and a touch of caramelised fruit sweetness.
