Lot 40 Rye Whisky

Lot 40 Rye is a legendary Canadian rye whisky that is produced in a single copper pot still. At some point during the 2000s, Lot 40 Rye was discontinued, which caused quite a stir among whisky enthusiasts who considered it to be one of the best Canadian whiskies out there. Luckily, this delicious drop has been relaunched - so fill your boots!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Earthy rye kicks in right away, backed up by caramel, fig and flamed orange peel.

Palate Softly floral as it opens, leading into cardamom pod and peppery coriander. Crunchy brown sugar and fresh vanilla pod sweetness.

Finish Classic rye spiciness lingers.

Reviews for Lot 40 Rye Whisky
Liked it a 'Lot'
Lot 40 was my first rye. Enjoyed it and it disappeared far too fast. IMHO a great intro to rye whiskey.

A rye for sipping
An enjoyable rye whiskey that makes a great neat nightcap. Tastes of rich dried fruit with a peppery aftertaste.

Great Rye, tastes great neat. Get a bottle you won’t regret it.
Excellent Rye, I have leaned more towards Ryes for quite a while now and this one doesn’t disappoint. Picked a bottle up from a shop in Chester on a whim.
Came on here to see the reviews after tasting it and I agree with such positive views on this Rye.
Taste etc I can’t add to what others have said, all I can add is that you should not miss this if you like Rye or are just starting off with Ryes.

A lovely rye
Tasted this at a recent whisky festival and bought a bottle.
I’ve always liked rye whisky and this one doesn’t disappoint.
Sweet, caramel and floral with the distinctive rye aroma and finish.
If you’ve never tried a rye you must buy a bottle and be in for a treat.

Canada steps up to the plate
This amazing rye can be enjoyed by sipping it neat right out of a Glencairn glass. Delicious rye notes on the nose and palate. Immediate toasted toffee notes and hints of dark fruit coat your mouth with a nice dry finish.

Perfect for cocktails.
Perfect base for a good quality cocktail that doesn’t break the bank. On its own it stands head and shoulders above anything else in this price range

My First Rye
This was my first rye and it did not disappoint. Loved it and I killed the bottle far too quickly, so another bottle will be on order soon.

Simply put, this is the bottle that made me fall in love with Rye. I will be going back for more
Picked this out on a whim. Growing up in Canada, around so called “Canadian Rye” (which is NOT Rye), I always passed it by. The more pours I have of this, the more I discover in it, and the more I love about it. With a heavy cooking spice that reminds me of family dinners of my youth, with a following brown sugar and vanilla, and ending with a pepper spice and slight tannin dryness. The sweetness and pepper lingers long, and leaves me wanting for more. The only thing I would like more of is a citrus orange peel note, which is there, I just would like more of it.

Im usually a Bourbon lover for vanilla and dark fruit, and scotch lover for the peaty smoke and fruitiness, but I may be visiting this bottle for a good long while.

This is rye?
So different from what I think of as rye (American, particularly MGP)! Such caramel, toffee... if I had known sooner, it would have been a regular purchase for years. Now, to get my hands on that cask strength version...

Such astonishing value...
Well worth a try. High end Canadian whisky is laughably underpriced and those of us who’ve tried Lot 40 knows it represents typically good value.

Really fantastic whisky, peppery, oaky, cinnamon, honey. Lovely.
