Released to promote Longmorn as a super premium single malt maker, this edition replaced the previous 15 year old. The relaunch was certainly effective as a means to display the distillery's unique Speyside character, as this superb 16 year old was distilled using natural ingredients from the surrounding area, including local spring water, barley from Moray and peat from nearby sources. Just lovely.
Fresh and green. Notes of apple peel and bramley apple, hints of citrus and herbal notes. There are some notes of balsa wood, calvados and plenty of dry oaken tannins.
Rich and compact. Notes of lemon zest and a leafy greenness. A good level of tannins develops with a vinous character and spice. The oak is dry and full.
Long and dry with a zesty quality.

I usually drink Oban,,, and really enjoyed this new Longmorn 16..... Really soft and mild on the front end, but followed by a edgy, spicy, finish....with a lingering, crisp, zesty sensation. Oban is still one of my favorites but this is a close second,, and for me says a lot.
I started drinking Whisky just over 50 years ago, I have sampled many, especially the pure malts, over the years, and have recently been hooked on "Highland Park", However, my soon to be ex son in law (don`t ask)has just given me a bottle "Longmorn 16 Year Old", he really must hate me, because it is going to cost me a lot money to keep buying this superb nectar.
A weak 7, first sips have some very nice "explosion" of sweetness and peppery spice but it dissipate rather quickly and i was just left with a harsh dryness in my mouth. A very good looking bottle but i wish the innards matched its container in that regard. But for this price its not enough, will not buy again.
Unbelievable taste effect: about 1 second after taking a sip, the explosion starts - like a miniature big bang of various shades of flavors. This persists for a very long time. I tasted this malt with my niece and nephew one evening at the cottage. And now their mother is quite angry at me... ;-)
Magic. An explosion of tastes that leaves you wanting more and more and more.....................hic.
