An 8 year old single malt whiskey from the Cooley distillery.
The nose is full and rich with notes of fruit and barley malt, plenty of oak and a little floral character. The palate is full-bodied with a minerality, notes of barley and cereal sweetness with mixed peels. The finish is full and based mainly on malt notes.
$32.50 - $83.16
So far the best whiskey I've ever had!
As smooth as it gets. I can describe this whiskey. It is light and mild but since it has a peat to it has a hint of complexity. However there is NO BURN. A slow warning that all happen in the chest. Amazing and I pick it up every time either I or friends of ours are in Ireland.
I am not really a Whisky drinker but when I do, it is Locke’s 8 year. My friend introduced me to it and I won’t settle for any other brand since. Very drinkable, smooth with a slightly sweet, slightly peaty flavor. Too bad we can’t get it here in the States but I bring some back when I visit Ireland.
Reading all the reviews here, I can't believe that no-one has mentioned the peatiness! It's not as smoky as, say, a Laphroaig as it has more sweetness to balance it out, but the peatiness is there for sure. Paid 40 euro in Aldi. Not blown away by it but not disappointed either.
I work for an Irish owned company based in Yorkshire and my manager travels to Ireland and back every week. I asked him if he could bring me back a nice Irish single malt that other than Bushmills. This is what he brought me, and wow what an absolute winner. Enjoyed it so much I now have a second bottle which he brought me. I paid him for it of course but well worth the money. Highly recommended.
