Loch Lomond Peated Grain

Peated Loch Lomond single grain Scotch whisky! That's right, heavily peated malted barley was distilled in a Coffey still at the Highland distillery for this one – definitely not something you see very often at all. Following distillation, it was matured in a combination of first and refill American oak ex-bourbon casks, adding a whole host of sweet, fruitier notes to the smoky spirit.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Berry jam, oaky vanilla, and a dusting of baking spices, with a layer of fragrant smoke underneath it all.

Palate Sweet and peaty, with lemon blossom, singed heather, and liquorice alongside ripe orchard fruit.

Finish Crisp malt, and lingering smoke.

Decent and nice
It was my second peated whisky. Once a bit watered or with a bit of ice, very nice whisky with a character. Not for everyone, the smokiness is present and the after taste is lovely. Not superior but very nice for under 30€. I would say 3.8 out of 5

Just Nope
Thought I'd give this a try.
But it's horrid. I actually threw the dram down the drain.
Didn't taste like Whisky.
BUT, I'm experienced enough to know that a bottle sometimes should not be judged by the first pour.
I will return, but for now a huge nope. In the 15 or so years I've explored Whisky, this was really really bad.

Great find buy some.
Bit of a find this one. Cheap as chips here in cape town which makes a very nice change. Sweet smoky a bit salty I really like it.

Lovely whisky
A revelation, just like a young Ardbeg, smooth, smoky and citrussy, nice to try something different and unique.

Very pleasant drinking
Bought to replace a bottle bought as a special offer in a supermarket, now out of stock. Very pleasant drinking. No hint of "petrol" on my palate; not quite as smoky to me as some have found, but a bottle I would buy again.

A revelation. Was not expecting this. Smooth, smokey and scoffed! Favourite Lowland malt for sure.

Unusual and different but not for me
Hmmmm. I’m a fan of peat and smokiness but maybe not this one.
It’s certainly a bit different and perfectly drinkable but I’m afraid I’m left with a rather unusual (and to my palate slightly unpleasant) petrol like after taste.
