Incredibly well-aged single malt here from one of Scotland's most adaptable distilleries – Loch Lomond! Thanks to its innovative stills, Loch Lomond is able to produce a medley of marvellous whiskies, and in fact, this expression is the first in a range celebrating those stills, dubbed the Remarkable Stills Series! It's a 45 year old single malt that was initially aged in American oak casks, before being finished in a first-fill Oloroso sherry cask. The packaging for this one is an homage to Loch Lomond's straight next pot stills (look at the copper-coloured shape on the presentation box and you'll get it). A release of 200 bottles.
Very floral – orange blossom and honeysuckle with ripe peach and melted brown sugar.
Opens on a honeyed sweetness, orchard fruit of red apple and pear before the intensity lifts to tropical fruit of melon and kiwi with lime citrus.
Long with tart green fruit, gooseberry, and waves of warming cinnamon spice.
