Loch Lomond 18 Year Old 1996 - Single Cask (Master of Malt)
An 18 year old Loch Lomond single grain Scotch whisky, bottled as part of our Single Cask Series. It was distilled in December 1994 and bottled in April 2015, and 96 bottles were produced. The well equipped Loch Lomond distillery is home to a multitude of stills producing several styles of whisky - their single grain is pretty marvellous, as demonstrated right here!
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Lots of fruit on the nose - think caramelised peach, Valencia orange peel and apple butter. Moves on to vanilla ice cream and Mars bars, with a touch of dandelion and charred oak emerging after a couple minutes.
Palate
The middle bit of Crunchie bars, spicy ginger and fragrant oak up fornt, with sweeter notes coming through in the shape of brown sugar and golden syrup. The fruit from the nose returns, though with juicier touches of plum and pear.
Finish
Cinnamon, milk chocolate and a fascinating hint of coconut straight from the shell.
Overall
Keeping the classic grain whisky sweetness in check with rich oak notes, this Loch Lomond is a gorgeous dram indeed.
