A. D. Rattray
Scotland
Single Malt
An indie Croftengea here, which began its life over at Loch Lomond in April 2007. The peaty whisky slumbered in a single bourbon hogshead for over a decade, bottled a month before its 13th birthday in March 2020. The 12 year old single malt was released as part of A.D. Rattray's Cask Collection, with 270 bottles presented at 54.7% ABV.
A flinty mineral note supports savoury fresh herbs and tomato jam.
Gentle smokiness throughout notes of menthol, charred stone fruit and citrus peel.
Salted nuts and clove-studded orange on a smoky finish.
Another belting indy. None of the Loch lomond fruit or funk, this is its own master. Water and time will help this one. Earthy, herbaceous, minerals and flint on the nose. Meaty briney up front on palate followed by stone fruits now back to savoury. Nutty oily finish. Varies greatly as you slowly take down abv. Highly recommended. M. Horrell
