An official bottling from the now silent distillery, Littlemill. This 12 year old has a very unusual flavour.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
The nose is of medium-body with curious vegetal and lactic notes. A touch sour with hints of sulphur and estery sweetness. The palate is quite full-bodied and very round with notes of barley sugar, toasted cereal and oily nuts with a rubbery character. The finish is long and quite sweet with herbal notes.
I discovered this whisky in 2010 and was immediately surprised. People call its taste unusual and I think I know what they mean by that: this whisky has some strong citrus notes that I never tasted from any other whisky. Since I'm a big fan of anything "citrussy" it became one of my favorites. Really recommend it, a shame that it's this rare now.
I bought 2 bottles of this fine and now extremely rare whisky some 4 or 5 years ago and I have now finished 1 bottle and have to admit that it is now in my top 5 maybe even top 3 whiskies I have tried ....the only downside is I cannot find anymore and have a serious temptation to open the second bottle......It's just as well I have several bottles of Jura Turas Mara which to my pallet is just truly magnificent also
Bought this after encountering at a tasting. At the time it compared very favorably with Highland Park, but at about 2/3 the price. now I wish I had bought more, did not know this would end up discontinued
Very nice smooth yet strong taste so glad I bought 2
