Linkwood - Batch 1 (That Boutique-y Whisky Company)

How you going, Dave? Here we’ve got a That Boutique-y Whisky Company bottling of Linkwood single malt Scotch whisky. This isn't some fake nonsense being flogged on the streets, that’s for sure - this is the Ian Beale jellied eel (real deal).

As with the other Boutique-y bottlings, there’s a graphic-novel-style label featuring references to the world of whisky. But what does a broom-maker have to do with Linkwood, you ask? Well, it’s not the broom-maker, it’s the broom itself. It’s Trigger’s broom. Yes, the one he got that medal for! The same one that he’s had for 20 years, and even though it’s had 17 new heads and 14 new handles, it’s still the same broom. Right?

With that in mind, think about how the Linkwood distillery was once just Linkwood A, then in 1971 they built Linkwood B with four shiny new stills. In 1985, Linkwood A was closed, leaving Linkwood B to become Linkwood. But it’s still the same Linkwood. Right?

92 numbered bottles were produced for Batch 1.

‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains, blended malts, blends and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic-novel-style labels.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

It opens with thick malt which develops into rich cereal with papaya, peach and plenty of sliced green apple.

Palate

Crisp with some grip. Green apple skin continues from the nose, as does the cereal, though it has become much more fragrant.

Finish

Quite drying and long with peach and the final hints of cereal.

Overall

A lubbly jubbly dram that packs some seriously superb cereal notes throughout.
