Linkwood 26 Year Old

A Speyside distillery with a top reputation among blenders, but with very few official bottlings of single malt (essentially only a Flora & Fauna 12 year old). This means that fans must rely on independent bottlings such as this fantastic 26 year old to sate their lust for Linkwood! Distilled August 1st 1989, it was matured in a single refill Sherry hogshead and bottled October 23rd 2015 with an outturn of 312 tasty bottles.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Salted butter, buttered scones, vanilla pods, Battenberg, mown grass, wildflower honey, pine and toasted marshmallows.

Palate Concentrated and syrupy. Honeyed malt abounds with sugared and gently spiced rock cake and buttery crumble.

Finish Very long with toasted barley, golden syrup, a little tobacco and hints of marmalade.

Overall Concentrated and powerful at cask strength, perfect with fruitcake or Pannetone.

Reviews for Linkwood 26 Year Old 1989 - Single Cask (Master of Malt)
Very good
Takes time to open up, a bit heavy on the wood, it cover up some of the good stuff.
Lovely sherry note in the background, butter pastries, forest, earthy.

Super-rich
Loads of buttered toast on the nose, but the richness on the palate is what this whisky's really about. Superbly dense and packed with flavour. Lovely.
