The second release from Fable Whisky, an independent bottler with a penchant for stories. This one was distilled by Linkwood back in October 2008, and matured in a hogshead cask for 12 years before being bottled up in May 2021 with an outturn of 290 bottles. The label was designed by artist by Hugo Cuellar, and the first eleven Fable Whisky bottlings feature characters and scenes from the tale of The Ghost Piper of Clanyard Bay.
Hot cross buns, heather honey, and a smidge of sawdust.
Caramelised nuts with another oak hint to it, wrapped up in vanilla and pear notes.
Orchard fruits and kitchen spices.
I bought the full first Fable set (5 different bottles) for my partner for his birthday as he is a huge whisky fan and has a particular love for Scottish single malts so it was a no brainer to give Fable a go. We had a whisky tasting night in to try them all and both of us can confidently say these whiskies are all absolutely incredible. If we had to choose, I'd say personal favourite is the Mannochmore and my partner's would be the Caol Ila but honestly all five of them are simply beautiful. Without a doubt, I'd recommend all of the Fable whiskies and we already can't wait for the next release - amazing whiskies and gorgeous packaging.
