Master of Malt
Scotland
Single Malt
The Master of Malt Single Cask Series grows once again with the addition of this 12 year old Linkwood single malt Scotch whisky! It was distilled in July 2006 and set aside to mature in a single bourbon hogshead for a dozen years, after which we came along and bottled it up in November 2018. It's a creamy, fruit-forward dram, which should make for a marvellous post-dinner tipple on a summer evening...
Bramley apple, apricot compôte and barley sugar initially, then dry grass, buttery pastries and plenty of drying spice.
More baking spice and a helping of white pepper heat are joined by lemon tart, stewed apple and a hint of tropical fruit sweetness.
Brown sugar, marmalade and drying oak.
This is a really interesting bottle. Fantastic nose, bit of a punch in the throat being cask strength, and the white pepper sticks around on the finish. Managed to try it as a Drinks By The Dram. Wouldn't spend £70+ on it, but it's not bad...
