Linkwood 1991 PC

An unusual Linkwood from Gordon and MacPhail's Private Collection. This was distilled in 1991 and it was aged for twenty years. Its maturation began in bourbon casks, and it was finished in Cote Rotie red wine casks for 30 months! A very curious whisky with loads of character.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Grape-like on the nose, with blackcurrant jam, oak, pine resin and a little earthiness. Hints of lavender, plum wine and a little malt.

Palate Quite herbaceous on the tongue, with notes of cut hay, forest floor, pine needles, chamomile tea and something farmyard-like. A hint of spice and bitterness develops.

Finish Decent length with gingernuts, burnt rubber, hints of pepper and honey.

Reviews for Linkwood 1991 Côte Rôtie - Private Collection (Gordon & MacPhail)
subtle but not to my taste
First Linkwood I have tasted. A little bitter with flat, babysick flavour. Growing complexity, could get the farmyard note mentioned in tasting notes but none of the pine resin expected from the cote rotie.
