First released for the Travel Retail market, Laphroaig Four Oak features a marriage of whisky matured in a quartet of casks, namely ex-bourbon barrels, quarter casks, virgin American oak barrels and European oak hogsheads. Somewhat following on the theme from their popular Triple Wood expression...
Roasted coffee beans, almond pastries, sawdust and medicinal peat.
An intense waft of smoke as it opens, with earthy vanilla pod and subtle cookie dough following it up.
Drying, quite spicy and long.

Not a bad drop, smooth and peaty with a huge whiff of smoke that is very pleasant. It is not like the Laphroaig 10 year old which has been one of my favourites for many years , but I was happily surprised how enjoyable it was. I would be happy to kick back and sip on this. I would buy it again at the airport.
The 10 Year Old or even the Quarter Cask is better than this for 2/3rds of the price. Don't waste your money - even if it is a litre.
I got this whisky from Delhi duty free and regret why I have purchased only single bottle. As mentioned in previous review one need to take it slow. Smokey and tasty...worth trying...
Simply the best single malt ever made. For the immature, it probably tastes like the first time they tried wine and expected it to taste like grape juice. To the educated, this is a sweet, mellow, rich, and complex taste extravagance. Each breath brings a new, flavor that goes on forever. You can literally enjoy the lasting tastes of a sip of Laphroaig Four Oak for longer than you can enjoy an entire bottle of some other whiskey's. If you simply want to get drunk, get a bottle of something else if you want to enjoy, get this, but take it slow, it's worth it.
Very good
