Laphroaig Four Oak 1L Bottling Note
First released for the Travel Retail market, Laphroaig Four Oak features a marriage of whisky matured in a quartet of casks, namely ex-bourbon barrels, quarter casks, virgin American oak barrels and European oak hogsheads. Somewhat following on the theme from their popular Triple Wood expression...

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Good single malt for your collection.
Not a bad drop, smooth and peaty with a huge whiff of smoke that is very pleasant. It is not like the Laphroaig 10 year old which has been one of my favourites for many years , but I was happily surprised how enjoyable it was. I would be happy to kick back and sip on this.
I would buy it again at the airport.

Don't bother wasting your money.
The 10 Year Old or even the Quarter Cask is better than this for 2/3rds of the price. Don't waste your money - even if it is a litre.

Worth trying
I got this whisky from Delhi duty free and regret why I have purchased only single bottle.
As mentioned in previous review one need to take it slow. Smokey and tasty...worth trying...

It will be worth it if you take it slow.
Simply the best single malt ever made. For the immature, it probably tastes like the first time they tried wine and expected it to taste like grape juice. To the educated, this is a sweet, mellow, rich, and complex taste extravagance. Each breath brings a new, flavor that goes on forever. You can literally enjoy the lasting tastes of a sip of Laphroaig Four Oak for longer than you can enjoy an entire bottle of some other whiskey's. If you simply want to get drunk, get a bottle of something else if you want to enjoy, get this, but take it slow, it's worth it.

Nice taste and aroma
Very good

deeply disappointing
Deeply disappointing. Where the four casks appears is none to be taste. Feels like drinking cheap immature whisky out of a dirty ashtray. No complexity at all, just strong and persistent nose notes of smoke. There's lots of better single malt options for a cheaper price.

A Nice Dram
Picked it up at Frankfurt airport duty free, as I hadn't seen it before. I really like it. I enjoy the oak bite, vanilla tones, with the distinctive Laphroaig malt and smoke. The trend towards bourbon, sherry and sweet barrels loses me. I like oak. This brings it all into balance. I've also got the Laphroaig Select and Quarter Cask, and I think a slight preference for Four Oak.

Marmite whisky. Love it or hate it.
This is a marmite whisky. I'm not Laphroaig's biggest fan but this is smooth stuff. This has the elements of Laphroaig I remember. Tried The Lore and Quarter Cask recently and this is not quite as good as those two (I preferred the 1/4 cask to Lore myself). The marketing team probably had more say in it's outcome than I'd like but it's still pretty good. Tasted it alongside Ledaig 10 and Bowmore 15. Held it's own but prefer the other two, as they have more body than this. Care has gone into this, even if "Four Oaks" was decided by committee.
