A limited edition port finished Laphroaig release for Fèis Ìle 2013, the Islay whisky festival. Initially matured in bourbon casks, this single malt scotch Whisky has an incredible pink hue. Cairdeas, meanwhile, is the Gaelic for 'friendship' and can be pronounced more-or-less “car-chase”.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed info and/or photos just get in touch!
A wisp of Laphroaig smoke is hiding amongst sliced blood oranges, grapefruit, raspberry bushes and a hint of pot pourri. Clotted cream and lemon zest develop.
Blackcurrants and sweet marmalade with more savoury pepper notes.
Fruity and drying.
Pink Laphroaig!

A superb dessert whisky at an affordable price. Good balance between peat & sweetness. It surely packs a punch though!
The Color is mahogany and the nose is fairly complexed, sort of "wooden" nose, littlebit waxy, with nice fruits - like plums, raisins, a bit of grapefruit and 'the (fantastic) sweet port'. The palate has a lovely vanilla taste, with 'sweet' wood, lightly peppered; then some citrus, raisins as well as the strawberry marmalade.Wow! And the finish is spicyish, smoky and last but not least the portwood(not overwhelming, just fine!).And with a "rather long" finish. This realy is a superbe whisky!
I bought a bottle and have gone through half of it with friends. I like the laphroaig10 and my favorite, the 18. The port wood finish gives this a sweetness that doesn't seem to go well with the smoke. Odd. Must be an acquired taste. Like smoking a sweet cigar. Normally I don't mind the sweetness. I live the balvenie 17 double wood and the 21 port wood.
I was not sure that a Laphroiag would work well with a port finish. It works quite well.
The color is amazing. i also found my bottle for 60$ in the Chicago area at a local grocery store. i love islays and this did not disappoint, even despite the NAS age.
