The legendary Laphroaig kicks off a new annual series with this impressive batch of 30-year-old single malt! It offers a splendid chance to explore how the Islay distillery's unique style develops over periods of long ageing, and this single malt spent its years maturing in a selection of American oak barrels and European sherry hogsheads and butts.
Fruity and sweet initially with very distinctive top notes of zesty orange and lemon peel, vanilla custard and treacle toffee.
More delicate background notes are revealed such as bergamot, sweet pastries and fresh thyme along with white pepper on the palate.
This is finally followed by a smouldering peat smoke and sooty campfire notes.
