The annual release of Laphroaig 25 Year Old Cask Strength is always a welcome one and the 2023 edition is no exception. Crafted from its own floor-malted barley, it was aged for a quarter of a century in bourbon casks and then bottled at 47.3% ABV without chill-filtration.
Sweet pear drops, crisp green apples, custard, and warm pastry on the nose, balanced with notes of cured smoked ham and cinnamon spice.
Rich and complex, with tropical pineapple, peach, and mango, backdropped with a gentle hint of white pepper and barbecued orange rind.
A long and soft finish with evolved smoky aftertaste.
