In 1815, the Laphroaig distillery was founded on Islay. In 2015, the distillery celebrated its 200th anniversary. To mark the occasion, it brought back its 15 Year Old single malt Scotch whisky for a limited edition release!

I recently found a bottle of this on the shelf near me. Absolutely delicious. I'm sorry that this won't be available going forward. Absolutely delicious balance of fruits, smoke, and some salt. Perfection.
More fruity than the 10 year old, more mellow. A more reasonable abv than the abv for both the 10 year old and the 18 year old. A big whisky. Mango, citrus, banana, vanilla, peat smoke, seaweed, apples, some antiseptical hints... Maturity. A cooling mint in the background. Pepper corns, sweet ash from bonfires at the beach and then seaspray on the lips. I whish it could have been an unlimited version..:)- Mmm...
After having the Laphroaig 10 yo cask strength which tastes something like smoked meat caked in salt, I was mentally prepared for disappointment, but it turns out this is much more drinkable. It does have those hints of saltiness but it's controlled. Pretty darn good.
Was able to purchase two bottles while in Holland in March and finally opened on tonight. Well worth the effort and price. Not as complex as the 18 but. to me, a big and significant whiskey. Sorry to see it is becoming less available. Isn't Lap just great ??
to come, post-wedding choice, father of Groom, getting this as part of a collection of 8 single malts for guest-aficionados. Will review once tested.
