Smoke and sherry here from Laphroaig! The legendary distillery on the south coast of Islay has gone and released a fab 10 year old single malt Scotch whisky which has been finished in Oloroso sherry casks for over 12 months, and bottled up at 48% ABV. Alongside the familiar, intensely peaty elements of Laphroaig's classic 10 Year Old expression, you'll also find helpings of dark chocolate and maple syrup notes in this one's flavour profile. Yum!
Smoked meats, maple syrup, BBQ lemon, charred oak, a smidge of coffee.
More roasted cedar and peat smoke, with a hint of iodine tucked away. Dark chocolate, honey, and vanilla pod.
A balanced finish of sherried sweetness and smouldering peat.

“Standard Laphroaig always reminds me initially of the flavour of water from a swimming pool or being beaten about the head with clumps of seaweed to get to the peaty essence. But this Sherry Oak Finish, my dear friends is indeed the dog's bollocks. Imagine liquidised chocolate and cherry cake with sultanas behind rampaging down your throat and suddenly order is ensured by the clinical steel of oak shavings, and then someone dips an eclair in a half pint of sherry and shoves it into your mouth while shrieking maniacally. You feel you might be in sudden state of total sensory breakdown when a lonely cellist send strains of divine music from the hills just over there where the wee burn tinkles down the valley. You feel an immense sense of peace enter your heart and say to yourself-"Aye a wee drop of watter might nay go amiss here laddie." Buy it. Drink it and may your heart sing as the cellist is joined by a flamenco guitarist!”

This really is a very good whisky - actually the best Laphroaig in the affordable price range. Dropping only 1 star because it would really benefit some more complexity on the palate, but an otherwise beautiful marriage of peat and sherry overall. You won't regret this one!

Amazing quality whisky considering the Price range. Except the Cask strenght version, i think it is my favorite Laphroaig. Great stuff ! Buy before it is to late or to expensive...
Probably my favourite Laphroaig, perfect marriage of smoke and sherry
Like most Laphroaig whiskies this is no disappointment. Had a couple of bottles of this and I am sure there will be more in the future. I seemed to enjoy it more as I got further in to the bottle (over a good few months, I didn't want to rush through this).
