Laphroaig 10 Sherry Oak

Smoke and sherry here from Laphroaig! The legendary distillery on the south coast of Islay has gone and released a fab 10 year old single malt Scotch whisky which has been finished in Oloroso sherry casks for over 12 months, and bottled up at 48% ABV. Alongside the familiar, intensely peaty elements of Laphroaig's classic 10 Year Old expression, you'll also find helpings of dark chocolate and maple syrup notes in this one's flavour profile. Yum!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Smoked meats, maple syrup, BBQ lemon, charred oak, a smidge of coffee.

Palate More roasted cedar and peat smoke, with a hint of iodine tucked away. Dark chocolate, honey, and vanilla pod.

Finish A balanced finish of sherried sweetness and smouldering peat.

Reviews for Laphroaig 10 Year Old Sherry Oak Finish
Lovely, Fruity, Peaty Whisky
I'm not a great lover of Laphroaig because of the iodine, TCP, medicinal palate! I don't want my whisky tasting of TCP! But, I like peated, smoky whisky and this Sherry Cask finish gives it a lovely fruity, smoky taste, which suits my palate.

Sublime
Thoroughly pleased with it, as I am with all Laphroaigs.

Almost not quite
Massive Islay fan and drinker...across the whole range ..this is a nice dram for sure but thats it ..nice..its not imo of an Uigeadail Corryvrekan or your Octomore...and its not quite up to the 10yr old LP cask (which is always excellent)....I just think its needs a little nore umph...ABV wish..but happy to have a bottle in the collection.

Gimme gimme gimme
Fruit, bonfire and cured meats on the nose. Honey glazed bacon with seasalt, jam, kippers and tobacco on the palate. Long, medicinal sweet and smoky finish. Similar to Lagavulin 16. This is what scotch is all about.

Great surprise!
If you love: Ardbeg uigeadail, lagavulin 16, and Bowmore 15 sherry cask, you’ll thoroughly enjoy this one!
In my opinion, it competes if not surpasses these great bottles,
I find that it has much more flavor to offer than its competitors, and for less money.

One of the best
Outstanding. The sherry cask comes thru. If you are not keen on Laphroag try this one and you may well change your mind. 1st class malt.

Lovely Stuff
A new favourite. Lovely smoky sweetness. Delicious stuff, not as good as Lore but very very close.

Outstanding
I saw this bottle getting big reviews online was keen to give it a try. Wow! This is everything I want in a whisky. That unique Laphroaig smoke, balanced perfectly with sweet fruit notes.
Laphroaig nailed it with this. My only small gripe would be that the ABV could be higher to bring it on even more, but honestly this bottle will constantly be replaced whenever I finish it. Which will likely be quite regularly.
