The latest batch of Laphroaig 10 Year Old Cask Strength demonstrates that the Islay distillery is in no danger of running out of peaty powerhouses for us to enjoy. This has all the smoky, medicinal, and sweet notes you've come to expect, and at a hearty cask strength, those flavours don't exactly hide.
Thick waves of iodine peat smoke followed by candied fruit and toffee.
Rich, earthy, and spicy heaps of clove, cardamom, and chilli. Then, salted caramel, blackcurrant, and a hint of liquorice.
Huge and drying.

Packs a punch, everything from the standard 10 year dialled up to 11. This is how Laphroaig is supposed to be.
I'll start by saying this is not a bad whisky per se, but it's not great either. Yet another distillery trading on their name with overpriced, sub-par bottlings. You live you learn.
Spot on! Just got all you'd expect without being off putting. Really is special and a worthwhile venture, just heaven!
I just bought this and started tasting - the iodine peat is definitely very dominant, the Laphroaig signature is definitely there, even when diluting it down to 40-50%. I wouldn't say it's bad, it's authentically Laphroaig, but I do feel like some sherry maturation to impart some additional sweetness would help balance this whisky out. For me there is 0 sweetness in this whisky, which might be welcome given the dumbing down of most whiskies nowadays, but I do feel it would have made this whisky more well rounded if it was there.
Very peaty, very nice. Awesome whisky.
