“I really love what the quater cask is doing here. Lots of sweet and pleasant woody flavours here. 48% is spot on for a whisky of this style in my view; a bit of bite and personality, but goes down just right. One of my favourite whiskys in this price range.”

Description

Released in 2004, this bottling was aged for around five years before being finished in a quarter cask for several months, the size of the cask is quite small, thus does not require such a long maturation. This remains a truly great achievement from Laphroaig.

Nose

Oily and buttery nose, with toffee, nuttiness, hickory, bicarbonate of soda, rum and raisin ice cream and zest.

Palate

Big rush of sweetness, in fact it’s an explosion of sweetness, with fiery chilli heat, TCP, sweet cereals and a touch of cola syrup.

Finish

Medium-length, but becomes fruity, with custard and cigar smoke.

Reviews for Laphroaig Quarter Cask

For the lover of a brilliant Islay single malt.

LOL. I just love some of the comments, and it's true: this is a love it / hate it dram. You either get Laphroaig and other Islay malts, or you don't. No harm, no foul. With that being said, brilliant dram. As my wife tells me "it smells like a camp fire by the sea just from opening the bottle. Brilliant.

Exactly what Scotch should be.

Smokey Smokey did I mention it is SMOKEY.

Notes sound bad for you but it is freaking Delicious!!!

Peppery blast of spices, phenols, cholrine, tar, hospital medicine cabinet, ashphalt, carbolic acids auto-body compound and sea salt. I love it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still Epic

I reviewed this a few years ago but forgot to leave my signature so time to re review this amazing whisky. Nose is interesting not all the vanilla and band aids of the 10 year more butter and citrus with charcoal. Palate is extraordinary briny and citrusy with loads of oak and smoke and earthy peat quite peppery as well . Reminds me a little of Coryvreckan but less complex with more oak. Considering how young this is it is absolutely amazing very different flavor profile from the 10 definitely worth having in your collection. Cheers! The Sugarbear
