Released in 2004, this bottling was aged for around five years before being finished in a quarter cask for several months, the size of the cask is quite small, thus does not require such a long maturation. This remains a truly great achievement from Laphroaig.
Oily and buttery nose, with toffee, nuttiness, hickory, bicarbonate of soda, rum and raisin ice cream and zest.
Big rush of sweetness, in fact it’s an explosion of sweetness, with fiery chilli heat, TCP, sweet cereals and a touch of cola syrup.
Medium-length, but becomes fruity, with custard and cigar smoke.

Prefer this dram over the Laphraoig 10. For a younger whisky some may think otherwise but the complexity with higher abv makes this expression very noteworthy. Smokey sweet with brine and citrus notes in the back. Brilliant.
Bought this at Costco for £24 now that's a good deal. Excellent whisky for the price love it.
This Islay expression is so delicious that they use it in the Lore. My go to whisky now and forever more. A firey explosion of flavours neat and with water a mellowing fire with sweetness and aromatic peat, hints of mint and vanilla char. Not for the weak! 5 star
Special taste....enjoyed
This is flavourful and pleasant with the classic salt/lemon/peat of Islay. It is a tad "hollow" though; lacking in mid-notes and backbone. Still an interesting and well-priced dram but I'm going to buy a bottle of std 10yo and mix the two.
