Released in 2004, this bottling was aged for around five years before being finished in a quarter cask for several months, the size of the cask is quite small, thus does not require such a long maturation. This remains a truly great achievement from Laphroaig.
Oily and buttery nose, with toffee, nuttiness, hickory, bicarbonate of soda, rum and raisin ice cream and zest.
Big rush of sweetness, in fact it’s an explosion of sweetness, with fiery chilli heat, TCP, sweet cereals and a touch of cola syrup.
Medium-length, but becomes fruity, with custard and cigar smoke.

Delicious
Smells like kerosene oil
Laphroaig QC is the "broad bay" dram that made me come back to Islay. Truly a complex , well balanced and savory drop. Behind the smoke there is a magical sweetness that lasts on the palate. Best non age statement I've tried and enjoyed in many a while.
My vocabulary is as underdeveloped as my palate, so I struggle to accurately describe what’s going on in this dram - suffice to say i wholeheartedly believe that Laphroaig QC is the perfect blend of sweetness, oak and peat. I have always had a tendency to turn my nose up at NAS whisky, but this one is a treat. Top 3 for me - fantastic bang for your buck, too. Mr “rot gut” - it seems you bought an Islay without knowing what you were getting yourself into. That taste you refer to is fairly strong peat, for which Islays are famous. Best stick to the kids stuff.
For the 1 star "rot gut" reviewer below I will state this as simply as possible: Don't buy a sportscar if you intend to haul large items. You state in your review the word "experiment" maybe look up that definition before reviewing something that is clearly going to taste like a campfire, it's an Islay Whisky, what are you expecting??? For those that enjoy Islay and want a bit of a sweeter note vs the medicinal that Laphroaig is known for give this a shot it won't disappoint.
