    Laphroaig Quarter Cask

Released in 2004, this bottling was aged for around five years before being finished in a quarter cask for several months, the size of the cask is quite small, thus does not require such a long maturation. This remains a truly great achievement from Laphroaig.

Tasting Note by us with John Campbell at Laphroaig Distillery

    Nose

Oily and buttery nose, with toffee, nuttiness, hickory, bicarbonate of soda, rum and raisin ice cream and zest.

    Palate

Big rush of sweetness, in fact it’s an explosion of sweetness, with fiery chilli heat, TCP, sweet cereals and a touch of cola syrup.

    Finish

Medium-length, but becomes fruity, with custard and cigar smoke.

Beast of a dram - slainte from PL

Simply MAGNIFIQUE, blows your mind off - even of you're not an Islay freak. Better to store up already now couple of bottles for our sons to enjoy

    Whiskey Lover

If u dont like peat stay away. Dont even try to compare it to a speyside or highlands malt. Its a totally different drink. If its to smokey for u put in a few drops of water it opens up beautifully and shows much more of the oak. Cheers!

    mind bendingly good

I thought the 10 year old was amazing...then I tried this....on my umpteenth bottle now.

    Exceptional

There are lots of reasons why you should not try this whisky. Let me list a few: If you think that light beer is beer - this whisky is not for you. If you want to just drink a lot and get drunk - don't drink this. If you just want something mellow - not for you. If you don't like smoke - forget about this. If you however would like to experience one of the most amazing whiskies on this planet, pour a little in a nice glass (like glencairn), add a few drops of water, let this incredible drink breathe for a few minutes and you will be rewarded greatly. It is hard to explain how good this drink is, incredible complexity, lots of smoke, smooth finish. Smell the glass hours later and you will still have the great smoky aroma of this heavenly drink.

    Bam!

The first sip is like a slap in the face followed by another backhand, while at the same time visualizing taking in a mouthful of campfire ashes. Once you get past the shock of the peat assaulting your palette that very first time, the sweetness, hint of bacon, and oh _that_ nose, counter it pleasingly keeping you coming back for more. It wasn't long before I saw the bottom of my bottle. Definitely enjoyed best in small sips.
