Released in 2004, this bottling was aged for around five years before being finished in a quarter cask for several months, the size of the cask is quite small, thus does not require such a long maturation. This remains a truly great achievement from Laphroaig.
Oily and buttery nose, with toffee, nuttiness, hickory, bicarbonate of soda, rum and raisin ice cream and zest.
Big rush of sweetness, in fact it’s an explosion of sweetness, with fiery chilli heat, TCP, sweet cereals and a touch of cola syrup.
Medium-length, but becomes fruity, with custard and cigar smoke.

Smells like a damp bonfire, with a hint of TCP. The taste is great, outstanding even. A touch of water and letting it settle for 10 to 15 Minutes takes it to yet another level. Not bad for someone whom does not really like peaty or Smokey Whisky. I am now converted, and I will be trying their other offering over time. Can I please give it a rating of 10?.
My favorite Laphroaig expression by far. I have indulged in the Lore, the 32, the 25, the 18, the 10, the 10 cask and dare I say the Select. The Quarter Cask stands on its own platform with a uniform balance of smoke, sweet and complexity. For the price, it is my go to daily dram and I like the fact that others find it too peaty or too bold. More for me . Cheers all.
Incredibly complex malt, it’s young and firey but with depths rarely seen on a NAS. Truly one of the Islay greats, the price point is scarcely believable.
Was given as a anniversary gift from the wife and my new favorite
Complex and Islay delicious!
