This release from Swiss whisky distiller Langatun demonstrates the brand's experimental and innovative side. It spent 7 years in a Pinot Noir cask before it was bottled at 49.1% ABV. This edition was named Jacob's Dream in honour of the founder of Langatun Distillery, Jakob Baumberger (1834-1888).
Jammy red fruit, caramelised dates and a little golden syrup initially, with toasted almonds and buttered pastries in support.
Fresh malt and some firm oak notes give way for tart black fruit, dark chocolate bitterness and succulent vanilla.
Heather honey covers toasted barley in a long, satisfying finish.
