A Distillers Edition bottling of Lagavulin single malt Scotch whisky, distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2014 following a finishing period in Pedro Ximénez casks. These Distillers Editions have proved very popular indeed, and with good reason - the Pedro Ximénez finish stands up nicely against the intense coastal qualities of Lagavulin's single malt. Definitely more than worth a go if you're big on your Islay whiskies.

Just tried my first dram of this and it is splendid stuff! Complex nose with berry fruits and mild smoke. Sweet, fruity and full-bodied on the palate with a lovely finish. Looking forward to sharing this with the family this Christmas!
This whisky is a sophisticated Islay malt with much to recommend it. Massive smoke it does not have but the peat is certainly an integral part of the experience it imparts. For an experienced Islay whisky drinker, it is a great way to start a tasting while moving towards the extra peaty and smoky stuff later.
This was my first Lagavulin besides the 16 year… The 1998 distillers addition is a highly smokey and almost has a finish similar to Chloraseptic spray, doesn't sound great but it is. I just don't know how else to describe it. Massive Peat, massive smoke and a long finish that will soothe the trough. Great stuff!
